A village in a City.
This is the part of the Water of Leith Walk where we walked today from the Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh. The whole walk is about 12 miles if you start further upstream but the stretch we did was only around a third of it.
Another hot day after a cloudy start so we enjoyed the shade of this lovely leafy walk by the river and here you can see part of Dean Village through a rather splendid Arts and Crafts style gate. The river can be seen below.
In the distance you can just see the turrets of the Dean Gallery, part of the Museum of Modern Art. We continued down through Stocksbridge to the Botanical Gardens where we met a friend of a friend and had a lovely outdoor lunch.
It was decided we would continue down to Leith itself which may have been a walk too far (it seemed to get further and further away!) So, pretty though the quay area is, we got the bus back to Princes Street Gardens for a well earned ice cream.
Chilling now before going out for dinner.
