Walking Wombat

The Golden Fleece!

What a day it has been. We set out from Wombat Hollow at just after 7.30 on the first stage of our drive to Melbourne. We're going to be babysitting the grandchildren for a couple of weeks!! I'll keep you posted on that one!

Honestly, I have never ever seen the countryside looking so good. We must have seen literally thousands of very healthy well fed sheep between Blackheath and Albury and the cattle were looking as just as good. We didn't even mind a bit of rain as obviously it has made a wonderful difference. The sheep were almost knee deep in pasture in some cases. I was so pleased that these two beauties were happy to pose while I took the shot!!

One bleak moment I have put on my blip folio, mainly because it was so scary. We had just been passed (in the pouring rain) by a huge "live Sheep Carrier". Just after it passed us it came to a big bend in the road and as it turned the corner it was confronted with the flashing lights of a train crossing. You can see from the image that it still has it's brake lights on and the Country Link train is about to cross. We have a new name for people like this guy, from now on they will be classed as IDJATS. I'm sure you will work out what it means.

I'm not going to let that moment spoil what has been an exhilarating day. Just another reason why we love hopping in our little space capsule and heading out on a new adventure.

PS - Just a quick note re: the Wombat Hollow Blip Meet. I think I've contacted everyone of the Blackheath Blippers now but just in case - the date of Sunday the 17th of August is now locked in cement! The 10th was not going to work for too many of you. Looking forward to walking you to "Wombat Rock"!!
