Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

By Carol

Early Morning

This photo is credited to Mr. Fun. He got out of bed early to take a look at the "super moon" and see how it looked from here. The sky, the environment, the atmosphere, the whatever -- just was not as clear as yesterday morning, but that didn't matter to Mr. Fun.

He decided to head down to the shoreline, well to the beach lookout, I don't think he actually went onto the sand. There at the lookout he captured some wonderful photos of shore walkers and their dogs, the sea lions on the buoy, the moon, and even captured a few shots of our little house from there. But the one I like very much is this pier shot.

Rarely do we see the pier in the early morning light. I like the way the tawny hills are illuminated. So that's my explanation of the photo. But the rest of our day was pretty darn terrific too.

We headed out of here before 9:30 to attend a 10:00 am worship service at the Presbyterian church in Morro Bay. What a treat. Most people maybe wouldn't think so. It was a church FULL of elderly people -- very friendly elderly people . They were just terrific but their pastor was on vacation this morning (and we had gone there specifically because a friend of ours had told us that the pastor was his friend). So we were delightlyfully surprised as one of the women of the congregation did the sermon. She did a fabulous job!

After church we headed toward the harbor area of the community and I told Mr. Fun I wanted to take him to Dorn's Breakers Cafe for breakfast. It is one of the nicer restaurants in Morro Bay, and with a fabulous view.

After enjoying a delightful breakfast experience, we headed toward the grocery store. Our cupboards were telling us it was time to do some serious shopping. and truly the "super market" in Cayucos gets the job done when we need a few things, but a real brand name grocery store -- "Albertsons" -- is the place to do a full blown shopping expedition (even though I think Albertsons' prices are too high). For some reason that I do not undestand, grocery shopping always seems like a chore here more than it does when we are in our SoCal home.

Soon we were home and unloaded all our purchases and put them away. Then we settled into a quiet relaxed afternoon. We didn't have an afternoon snack (bravo for us) and we even had a light evening meal, and then we took the pups for a walk to the beach lookout and watched the sun go down behind the foothills from there -- spectacular. Then we walked back to the homestead.

This has been a fabulous day!

Good night from California's Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
