End Of Term Vegetables

One of our teachers who has been away with pupils on a trip this week in Northern France described the heat as insufferable, and that sums it up for me. I felt a bit sick this afternoon as it was so bad.

Anyway, these vegetables have been grown by the school's gardening club in raised beds that are under the lab windows. Something has eaten the leaves of the Kohl Rabi, but overall they are pretty healthy. It was too hot to go for a walk and I had also arranged to see one of the teachers in Modern Foreign Languages in connection with the story after school which was very good despite the heat in her classroom.

We seem to be having Ice Cream Wars at home! Our community seems to be bombarded by two vans every day one called Mr Nippy and the other called Super Whippy! One wonders if we are the only country that has Ice Cream vans! Are they a peculiarly British invention?! The tunes that are played seem to get worse! One year it was Yankee Doodle Dandy every day and the one that we hear now is little better! Such are the joys of summer, but they do come round in the winter - an Ice Cream Man's work is never done!
