I hadn't been round since they had restored the rooms. It's well worth a visit. Low key but remarkable records of the lives of Queen Victoria, the Glorious Georges - and a lovely record of the glittering gowns of the Queen, Princess Margaret and Princess Diana.

As we came out the police vans were massing. There is a demonstration in Central London and "Save Palestine" posters were everywhere. Will they get helpful publicity? Will they emphasise the sensitivity and issues in this troubled part of the world? I hope it is peaceful but pertinent.
