Blue Tailed Damselfly

Well, I never! I was racking my brains to think of a species of Damselfly with a red neck. Then I put my glasses on.

This is a male Blue Tailed Damselfly, Ischnura elegans ... the thing on it's neck is a tick! Just to prove that I most certainly am no expert, I didn't know there were ticks that would attach to Damselflies.

They say you should learn something new every day. I'll see if I can find something about these mites but, Google has failed to bring up anything about them.
