Murray's Tobacco Factory, Belfast

All through my years growing up in Belfast this place was concealed by the grime of an industrial century and taller buildings surrounding it. Even into this millennium, the only evidence of the tobacco factory was an "Erinmore" sign high above the Grosvenor Bridge and the occasional, wonderful aroma of tobacco pervading the air on the railway platforms of Great Victoria Street Station - especially on a Friday morning.

Sometime a few years back, the streets nearby were cleared exposing the factory again. With some restoration and a good clean-up, the building and its marvellous mosaic can be seen again in all its glory.

Some things the Victorians did so well!
