Lavender blue

Took a break from work today to pop out and have lunch with a friend for a couple of very agreeable hours. We went to our local lavender farm in the Darenth Valley, near Eynsford, where the lavender is at its peak of colour and fragrance. The gorgeous tang of it hits you the moment you arrive, and as you stand at the edge of the field the air is vibrant with the buzzing of thousands of bees busy at work gathering nectar.

We had lavender ice cream sitting outside near the farmhouse in the sunshine. Bliss!
