Fishermen In The Bay
It is great to travel, but always nice to return home to familiar environs. Rode my bicycle into the market this morning, stopping by my favorite places on the way to see what had changed in two weeks. The number of people has certainly increased with the commencement of Mexican summer vacation. Lots of buses in town and hordes of people ambling along the streets.
Even though we are now primarily a tourist town, Zihua was originally a fishing village and that tradition remains strong. The fishing fleet, based on Playa Principal, continues to depart each evening and return the following morning to sell what they catch adjacent to their beached crafts. Other fishermen, like these guys here, ply the waters of the bay to see what they can net. How appropriate they were dressed in bright colors and paddling a Zihuatanejo named boat. I definitely know I am now home!
