Fields of Gold

I just love fields of wheat or barley or oats....

I love watching them move to and fro in the wind, with that lovely gentle rustling sound. I love the way the light plays to and fro as the whole shape and texture changes moment by moment. I love the shimmering gold colour when it's almost completely ripe, with the sun glimmering across its surface... what a sight!

I think the scene in Gladiator at the start of the film where Marcus Aurelius moves through the field of wheat and all you see is his hand moving through is just fabulous.

I was just a little late in the day for this shot. But it has just enough texture and shape and colour to be worth the shot.
