Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Cambria Kitchen Tour

Several weeks ago I saw the announcement for this tour and at that time put a reminder in my calendar. So we phoned yesterday and got two of the last four tickets available.

We toured six homes. Each had its own unique trademark and I am sure carried the personality of the owners. In two of the six, the owners were there to greet the tour guests. At each residence, food and beverage prepared by one of six local restuarants was offered to the guests. Everything was delicious.

Two of the homes were opulent, and definitely lovely. Two others were recently remodeled, refurished, and decorated superbly. One of those had a unique feature that caught my attention -- a water faucet above the burners on the stove, which is called a "pot-filler." In the write-up about the place, the owners referred to the "pot-filler" as indulgent, but also explained that it had been quite handy. Then two others homes were old classics. One home was two adjoining log-cabins, one had been built in the 1920s, and is owned and restored by an interior architect.

It was quite a privilege to go inside of these places to see "behind the scenes" . . . places that previously we had only seen while driving past.

They were all lovely. The old log-cabin impressed Mr. Fun the most.

Good night from California's Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
