Craster

We headed to Craster but stopped off on the way - purely by accident - at Lower Newton. An amazing beach, looked after by the National Trust. Cars not allowed in the lower village, but it has a pub and it's own Micro Brewery !

Another stunning beach (there are a lot of them all along the coast at Northumbria), and some gorgeous wee self catering cottages I will be checking out for future trips.

Craster looks like a bigger version of St Abbs (one of my favourite places), and a great place to go if you like smoked fish and can't get to Arbroath.

A bit showery today, but we managed to introduce the younger kids to the delicacies of a 'Double Nougat' from the Ice Cream van. I haven't had one in years - and they are every bit as good as I remember.

No 1 still isn't well. She tried to keep up with us today, but ended up lying on the sand in the shade. I drove her home to her own bed, (and left her in the care of her two friends), and returned to the tent for our last night.

We managed a few hands of cards (a new game No 1 taught us - 'Shed'), then snuggled up for our last night.
