Porty People and Places

Through the murky dawn the old lady of the seas - m/v Discovery returned to Leith at the end of her 12 day Scandinavian Cruise. She will be in Leith Docks all day before heading off again on another popular No Fly cruises from UK Ports.

Running on the beach again this morning the sea was in an unsummery torment. I was up close and personal with the salty stuff - not because I had keeled over - but am very happy to have a waterproof camera. I love the way the Cockenzie Power Station chimneys are lost in the clouds. They will be soon lost for ever - sadly.

I had my first conversation with The Piano Man He was off to Haymarket to check on the welfare of his piano which is now there for public/Festival performance. He was worried the rain may have got in to it overnight. He offered me the use of his tent - free rein on his trombone and to keep an eye on his possessions which the drunks interfere with. His eviction comes up again in court on Monday. His premise for staying is that his tent is not his, but a cultural amenity for all. Discuss.
