Porty People and Places

A long walk at Aberlady Bay this morning - just up the coast from us - under crystal clear skies following yesterday's rain. The Gannets duelling with the Terns for the best fish breakfasts gave an aerial display every bit as good as the Red Arrows on this coast last weekend.

The Peacock butterflies, more sedately, distracted us, as they fluttered and flirted over the couch grass that always reminds me of The Machar in the Outer Hebrides. This piece of coastal wilderness is only 20 minutes drive from the city, this Sunday morning. We , and the distant couple on the path ahead, in my blip, were our only human companions on the outward route. Homebound there were considerable more taking advantage of the bright morning ahead of the rain.

That deluge played havoc with the Glasgow 2014 Road Race but made for fascinating arm chair cycling. The closing ceremony is about to start. I am sure it will bring these excellent Games to a fitting finale in this momentous year for our Nation.
