Cheers!
Left Tahoe, picked up coffee and a cinnamon bun to go from a lovely little bakery, and headed west. Journey went really quickly with not much traffic and games of compiling our desert island disc lists of music. Arrived in Napa valley and suddenly vines were everywhere. Started in Napa with a trip to the Oxbow market-great food stalls and lots to see. Went to see the Hundertwasser designed Quixote winery, then to Yountville which was a bit weird...a sort of foodie theme park crossed with Stepford! Still, enjoyed a macaron at the Bouchon bakery and a wander round the French Laundry kitchen garden.
Arrived at Calistoga hotel-seems nice. Walked down to the town for dinner and ended up in a Mexican place (unfortunately with a rather enthusiastic but not brilliant mariachi band!) before bed....we start wine tasting tomorrow!
