...........cap and bag........

Not the volunteers flat cap...a very expensive Manchester 2002 base ball cap.......and the volunteers bag.The cap has never been worn......the bag became my umpires bag when I qualified as a Hockey umpire.

And that's just about it from my memories of the 2002 Commonwealth Games......I have just one more picture to take........and one more story to tell......tomorrow........but for now some figures.

The Games cost £300 million to stage........but up to 2008 the direct spin offs for the city had raised £600million and created 20,000 jobs.

Athletes from 72 countries took part in 17 sports making Manchester 2002 the largest sports event ever held in this country (prior to the 2012 Olympics).

It was the 17th CWG and it ran from July 25th to August 4th.

It was the first multi sport event to include disability sport alongside able bodied sport.

1 million visitors attended the Games.

3,697 athletes took part.

78 CWG records were set.......and three world records.

10,000 volunteers made the Games run smoothly....working a total of 1.26 million hours during the Games...........and I was one of them!

Today England have reached 56 Gold medals............two more than the record set in Manchester 12 years ago............and we top the medal table.....for the first time since Edinburgh 1986.

The weather kept us in today.......until this evening when we went to the S &H's for a curry and to see YH's mum

Das vidanya moy padruga.
