Looking scruffy

Yesterday we had scruffy hair from Thomas, today we have a scruffy beard from Luke! He is trying to grow a bit of a beard over the holidays, and it is looking a bit scruffy and patchy at the moment. I am hoping that when we are sailing and it is really hot it irritates him to the extent that he shaves it off as soon as possible! I suppose it is a bit of a novelty to grow a beard when for the first time in his life he actually can.

I am convinced that Murdoch is suffering from depression since we came back from Switzerland. He has been very quiet and moping about, and even the boys noticed he is behaving outside his normal patterns of behaviour. Luke had some friends around last night and Murdoch just followed them around all evening. He just adores being in the mountains and all the lovely walks he have there, and of course the rivers to swim in. Poor boy...and now I feel even worse that he is going to the kennels while we go sailing. To be fair the kennels are lovely, he knows the people who run it very well, and as it is on a farm he has lovely walks every day.

Off to pack now as we leave to go sailing tomorrow. We fly to Barcelona and then travel to Sant Carles (which is south of Barcelona) where we pick up the boat. Our plan is to sail up and down that coast and to get to the Balearics for a night or two. I am very apprehensive as I find living on a boat quite limiting, and am only a fair weather sailor - although the forecast is very hot weather and sunny so I should be ok.
