Games

After an early "full Scottish" breakfast we hoped would tide us over if we missed lunch (it did!) we drove to Stirling and got the train to Glasgow. We watched the men's marathon runners go over the top of George Square and then followed the route down to Glasgow Green for the finish, pausing to catch the women runners along the way. The Green was packed so we didn't go in and we walked down to Hampden Park instead and got into the queue for our afternoon athletics session. There was a really good atmosphere in the stadium and we saw the women's para long jump finals, the men's 100 and women's 400 heats, the men's shot put and women's hammer qualifiers and the men's 5000 metre final. There were amazing queues afterwards for the trains back to Glasgow Central from Mount Florida and Queen Street Station and the train back to Stirling we're pretty busy too. We grabbed sandwiches at the station for tea as we were too tired to bother with anything more involved. Music: nothing but the incidental - I was stuck somewhat inevitably with Belle and Sebastian's 'Stars of Track and Field' (and, later, 'Silly Games' which Beck was singing, I presume, since it was on 'Pick of the Pops' yesterday as we drove into Jedburgh.)
