Planning

At Wycombe District Council offices this morning for a meeting with Andy, the Contracts Manager in their Community department, and the team from Quartet Design, the landscape architects who have produced the overall design for our Peace Garden. Val, one of the Elders from our Meeting, was just arriving as I took this photo and Jen, our Clerk, also joined us.

The meeting turned out to be quite short, as we're all happy with the final design and there were just a few details to discuss. Then Val and I walked up to the Burial Ground to meet Claire, who is from Chesham Meeting. Claire and I worked together on the Legacy Garden at BYM Gathering this year and she was interested to see what we're planning in High Wycombe.

The conversation turned to other things, as often happens. Claire is a flautist and played in the orchestra at BYM Gathering, and Val mentioned that we also have some talented musicians in our Meeting. She invited Claire to come to our next shared lunch which will be followed by a music recital and to see if she felt like performing a piece as well. I sense a Chilterns Area Quaker Meeting orchestra in the making!

Claire's sister knows Jim Grant, husband of Stephanie, through a mutual interest in recorder playing - the web of connections continues to grow!
