Diary of an Edinburgher

Out galavanting!

Archie is a big boy now, so he goes in the shower, not in the sink. He loves it! He can't wait, and runs in and stands nicely throughout. Then he ignores the hair drier blasting warm air at him. Mind you, he's generally chewing on something tasty by this time. Today it was a pig's ear snack, his absolute favourite, so you could actually do anything to him. Even brush him.

JR and I ventured into town to see what was going on. I was annoyed to see, while passing on the bus, the intriguing one-man-band chap we crossed the road with yesterday. I'd've loved to get a photo of him - his contraption is amazing. By the time we got back along, he was packing up. Maybe I'll catch him another day.

This evening we went to the first of our 'James plays'. Three plays about James 1st, 2nd and 3rd. But we're seeing them back to front, so that we could get seats on the stage. Tonight is James 111. Featuring Sophie Gråbøl from 'The Killing.' It was amazing sitting right there on the stage - lots of acting all around us. Very well done. In the parliament scenes, they were in the seat in front of us!

I could have taken really really good photos, but not allowed, of course. Though I was pleased that the same official who stopped me, came and told the woman next to me not to eat sweeties. And that was even before the play started. I could have done with him at the play the other day where a rude man ate an entire picnic, including crisps and an apple!!

It started brilliantly, actually. Supposed to start at 8:15, and people were still flocking in at 8pm, but they sort of wandered onstage and started casually with a terrific party and dancing scene. Excellent beginning.

And - best of all - a bus came after about 5 minutes wait in the freezing cold.
