Coire na Tulaich, Buachaille Etive Mor

Leyla wanted to do a Munro mountain before she reaches the grand old age of nine. Ben Nevis would be an obvious choice but the tourist route to the top has to be the dullest and most overpopulated mountain route I've ever done, and she's not ready for any of the more interesting routes on Nevis's north face. So instead we set our sights on Stob Dearg, the primary eastern summit on Buachaille Etive Mor, rising from Rannoch Moor and marking the start of Glen Coe. I was last on this route 14 years ago.

We parked at Altnafeadh and headed up Coire na Tulaich. Just the two of us, Leyla in the lead all the way including the final scramble to get out of the Coire.

This is the view back down the Coire as we topped out from the scramble -- our car parked on the road visible centre-frame probably only two miles away on the map, but roughly 2100 feet lower than where we were stood with our heads almost in the clouds.

We had a really great day.
