Porty People and Nearby Places

After a full morning's work it was lovely to take time out in nearby Inveresk Lodge Gardens this afternoon.. This is a NTS property on the sunny side of Musselburgh. In many ways a hidden gem. We were the only visitors and had free range in the large gardens, greenhouse, aviary and lowland landscaped lake and meadow, abuzz with bees from the hives set back in the shade of burgeoning apple and plum trees.

This rural retreat was sea of tranquility after all the noise and pointy shoutyness at last night's IndyRef Debate. It was good to see the return of the First Minister to his inimitable debating style and the manner in which his opponent made the best of losing this vote by a 2:1 ratio. We do not have long to wait now to find out the result of the all important actual vote on 18th September. Some postal votes are already being cast even as I type!
