Coffin Circular Walk
We did this beautiful walk again this morning in the company of 15 of the friendliest and good natured dogs you could hope to meet. Plus their owners too, of course!
It is called the Coffin Circular Walk because it includes part of an ancient track that led from local villages and hamlets to the churchyard. Coffins were carried, often for many miles, to take the deceased's coffin back to their home church for burial.
It is a really beautiful walk, with lovely views across to Knockfarrell and Ben Wyvis. The last part is along the old disused railway track, the dogs favourite part, there is a large stagnant, boggy area below the track!
I and another, who had done the walk before did keep calling out to our fellow walkers to be wary of the bog, but perhaps not loud enough! Poppy and Bud, this time, stayed lovely and clean on their leads, whilst all the others.............suffice to say that you had to hold your nose as they walked past! I allowed myself a little smile!
