Some things change…..
I have a photograph of my father aged 7 or 8 outside Parry's General Store in Cemaes Bay around 1937. Other photographs show my grandparents holidaying there in the 1920s including a lovely shot of them both in their old fashioned bathing suits in Wylfa Bay - long before the name Wylfa became that of the nuclear power station just north of Cemaes Bay. My grandparents fell in love with Cemaes, as did my parents and my brother, sister and I spent may happy summers there.
Last summer my sister and I went on holiday in Cemaes for the first time in 30 years and found much hadn't changed. Today we popped back from our holiday base in Point Lynas just around the coast, for a lovely day on the beach we used to call the 'big beach'.
Parry's is undergoing some kind of development and the wooden window frames that my father posed in front of almost 80 years ago will soon be in a skip as it starts a new life as something else.
