Home & Away

Nunavut, Canada

Another beautiful view out of my office window!

We were flying over clouds for much of the flight to the US, but the skies cleared for awhile over northern Canada. My passengers were almost all sleeping or watching movies, allowing me time to do a little sightseeing. I never get bored from seeing such amazing sights from 38,000', even the more desolate areas.

I did a bit of research on our flight route. Based on the time that this picture was taken, we were flying over Nunavut, the largest, northernmost and newest Canadian Territory, having separated from the Northwest Territories in 1999. The land in this picture is east of King William Island, west of Wales Island and the Northwest Passage, and north of Hudson Bay. According to Wikipedia, it has a population of just less than 32,00 and covers an area the size of Western Europe. It is home to the northernmost permanently inhabited place in the world.
