Solace Day 5: Near Norton Junction

Another day of good weather as we left the Oxford Canal (Northern Section) and turned on to the Grand Union Canal for a few miles.

Before that Clickychick and I had wandered round Braunston to do some shopping. I got a number of interesting shots there but land based shots I can take any time so I have gone for another canal shot.

Of the 4 miles or so between Braunston turn and Norton Junction 2042 yards are under ground in the form of the Braunston tunnel. This is quite an experience and fortunately due to the good weather this summer a dry experience. Canal tunnels being brick lined can be notoriously wet.

We stopped soon after Norton junction in another lovely stretch of canal. Perhaps a little early as to go much further would have brought us to the Foxton flight of locks. Being two stair cases of 5 each this takes quite a while to complete so that was left for tomorrow.

The shot shows CC standing just ready to step on to Solace.
