Dance

Here's Ben and A, with Kyle and L, all dressed up and headed to our local community center's annual "Daddy-Daughter Dance." Tonight marked Ben and A's third year attending the dance, which really made me realize how long we've lived in this city. In just 2.5 years, it has definitely become home. This was the first year Kyle and L tried it out, and all four had a wonderful time. The event includes dinner, crafts, and dancing and it is always very well done - and special for the dads and daughters to enjoy time together. I grew up participating in a dad/daughter-focused organization, going to monthly meetings and seasonal camping trips with my dad, and I remember those to this day as very special experiences.

But never fear! The moms and sons had a great evening too! My friend Kellie (Kyle's wife and L's mom) hung out at our place with her two boys, L and J. L is E's age and they had a great time crashing Matchbox cars into each other and arguing over whose turn it was to play with the biggest truck, while baby J looked on in amusement and chewed on things. We made a nice dinner, had ice cream sandwiches for dessert, and visited until the dance crew came home.

P.S. A and L are both 6 years old. They are only 7 months apart in age, but L is petite, and A is tall. I didn't even realize the difference was so striking until I stood them side by side for a photo!
