The Jefferson Hotel
Richmond is the capitol of Virginia, and the Jefferson is THE place to stay while in town on business. Old, elegant, stately.
I only overheard one conversation, but the guy was windy. Definitely a politician. "In all my years of serving my district...yada...yada...yada."
It was a beautiful place. If you look real close, you can see Lisa coming down the stairs, and 2 gentlemen scurrying into a meeting.
While in Richmond, we also visited the Hollywood Cemetery. 2 presidents are buried there...Monroe and Polk. It is also the final resting place of Jefferson Davis, the lone president of the Confederacy.
To finish off our quick tour of the city, we hit the Virginia Museum of Fine Art, an amazing collection, and Monument St., the only street in America that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Many grand old houses, along with 6 huge statues. Jeb Stuart, Jefferson Davis, Stonewall Jackson, Arthur Ashe, Robert E. Lee, and a man named Maury.
We ended up driving 525 miles, and are now tucked in for the night in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Talk to you soon.
