Merry-go-round

We had a fun day out with #3 daughter, plus Ella and Nathaniel to Beamish open air museum in County Durham. It was established to show the customs and way of life of the people of the North East since Georgian times. I'd not been since my daughters were aged 11, 8 and 5, in the early days of the museum. Now it has been developed much more to include a farm, a coal mining village, a town and a funfair. We took an old tram from the entrance to the town. On one street there is a row of terraced houses from 19th century. They had been about to be demolished, and were removed and rebuilt in Beamish. They were furnished as they would have been then. The shops and businesses have all been reclaimed and restored. We visited the old sweet shop for some chocolate mice, then called at the bakery where Ella got to knead some dough. We called later to buy 'her' loaf. We had a picnic in the park area before walking down to the funfair where Ella and her mum had a ride on the Merry-go-round. Then it was time to get a tram to the car park as I had to go back to the dentist for the crown to replace the unsuccessful attempt last week. This one looks and feels more comfortable. Luckily the Beamish entry ticket (£13.50 for a senior) lasts for a year as we had no time to visit all the areas. I think next time we'll take a Ella to school where she can write on a slate - but she is naughty she won't get the tawse like her Granny did.
