D, Phleb.
This is the last weekend that I will work with D, my phlebotomist friend from the lab. She will be moving to a position with a research project conducted at one of the big downtown hospitals. Although we will miss her easy smile and great skill with sharpened surgical steel, this is the right move for her to make. I first met D working at one of the other clinical sites of our employer, and since the laboratory and radiology are always situated next to each other, the ancillary services folks get to know each other. The last part of the shift is spent scrubbing down all the surfaces where pathogens like to congregate and D's enthusiastic scrubbing terrifies pathogens!
