So how on earth do I come to be blipping poppies on October 10th? These are growing in a field near Fourstones Village. I was out checking a bit of route this morning. It was very mild so summer walking trousers and a tshirt were the order of the day.

Hope the weather holds for next week.............. (Did I mention the Haltwhistle Walking Festival starts tomorrow?!)

This afternoon we were visited by 2 delightful nuns, one in her habit, one in mufti. They are both members of the Sisters of Mercy, a teaching order with a house in Sunderland. Sister Dolores knew Dad when she was a young teacher and he was the Education Welfare Officer for her school. Sister Endor taught in St Anthony's Catholic Grammar School with Mum, who was there for a few years. It was a happy visit and they enjoyed AVs of Venice and Rajasthan.
