CAPTAIN GEORGE

Captain George Mainwaring of the Home Guard – hero of the Dad’s Army TV series – seen alive and well as part of the North York Moors (NYMR) Railway in War Weekend.
Today this was the scene in Pickering Market Place as crowds dressed for the 1940’s prepared for life in a railway town during World War Two.
Captain Mainwaring is seen here passing vital information to the younger generation.
