Chalke Valley Challenge

Today I ran my first ever 10k race! My friends and I are in training for the Tidworth 10k in 3 weeks time, but as the CV 10k was happening in the next village to where I live, I thought I'd try it as a warm-up. My friend and I ran the route last weekend so I knew what to expect, so I registered this week and poled up this morning feeling distinctly nervous.

It was... actually ok! It was hard work, I set off a bit too fast, and I missed having friends to chat with as I ran. I hit 'the wall' at 8k and wasn't at all sure whether I'd finish, but then I saw a few friends by the roadside cheering on the runners so that gave me the impetus to continue.

Last week I did the route in 1:06, but today I did it in... 57 minutes!! I was chuffed to bits to crack the hour.

Now I'm feeling a bit achy, but like I definitely deserve the roast chicken dinner that's waiting for me downstairs once I finally get Ted to go to sleep! And I think I'll be off for an early night once I've eaten!
