A bit like my hair in the wind.......

.......a birds nest!

This beautifully formed little bowl of twigs, leaves, fluff and fern was sitting on the path near our garden bin this morning.

I guess it probably fell out of some of the shrubbery that we cut back yesterday......on closer inspection it's amazingly intricate; so clever these little birds at building their nests for the spring! At a guess maybe belonged to a family of blue tits or similar I should think. Probably no more than 3 or 4 inches across (7/8cms) but very cosy and safe no doubt for those little chicks!!

I thought it would make a nice blip; something a bit different! Who knew a birds nest on top of a garden wheelie bin could look so pretty :-)
