Standing stone

Bad start to the morning when had to get a cow put down because she was down with jhones disease.
While up the hill to see to her,went to see the wood the estate had had felled. Most of the fence between the field and the wood is now flattened so will need to be re fenced before we can put the hill Blackface sheep in to tup next month.
Took a blip of this standing stone, in our Stonefield (obviously !)
If I remember the story correctly,the devil was challenged to throw a stone between the Pentland Hills and the Moorfoot Hills so he could claim someones soul. The stone landed here,just short, so the person got away.
There is a stone on the next door farm with the same story,so maybe Auld Nick had a few goes before he managed !
All I know is that it has been a back scratcher to generations of cows and sheep !
