Hurricane effect

Our oak tree was thrashing about in the wind today, and although I went down to the pub for lunch with friends, I decided to not go further afield! The wind was at its strongest in the middle of the day, so staying indoors was the sensible option.
A large branch from a very large tree in a neighbouring garden spilt away and was dangling in an alarming manner. My husband phone our friendly local tree surgeon!
He came very quickly, threw over a rope, went up a ladder and managed to cut it down with his chain saw. We were relieved, as it might have fallen towards the pavement.
