Next phase of building in Mote Park

Mote Park, the jewel in the somewhat under performing Maidstone is a place we pass through and walk around regularly and is a place where I've sourced many blips in the past.

The park was recently voted the second best park in England, although this depended on the number of people voting and there was a significant campaign on FaceBook for people in Maidstone to vote.

However, this is not a moan, it's more of a comment on how hitherto unused and unloved parts of Mote Park are being brought to life. Already the big old Mote House has been converted into luxury retirement apartments and the old kitchen gardens transformed into new housing. This last phase renovates the old stables and another block we'd not noticed before together with new houses on what has been derelict land for as long as I can remember.

The whole project has brought this rundown area back to life and is a sensitive and welcome use of land which now adds to the park rather than detracts from it.
