Marooned at Bluewater

Carnage on M25 today, all sound but particularly around the Dartford Crossing where accidents and closures combined with half term holiday traffic combined to jam the M25 and surrounding roads.

We went to Bluewater after the gym partly for lunch and partly for a bit of shopping. John Lewis scones lived up to their consistently good reputation, scoring 44 out of 44 and as good as mine, which is rare praise indeed.

Susan bought some new trainers for the gym, her current shoes being over 10 years old. What a price trainers are but after searching high and low she found a pair of suitable, comfortable shoes for a reasonable price. After that she went off to M&S for a bit of shopping therapy while I browsed Waterstones, the Apple Store and the kitchenware in John Lewis's,

I had a good look at the Kitchenaid mixers which are very popular but very expensive at several hundreds of pounds. Then I blagged a cup of coffee at the Nesspresso demonstration. I've long looked at these machines but never taken the plunge. Capsules cost 29p each, cheap compared to a coffee out but not as cheep as making your own from beans or grounds. Tasted good though.

Then it was time to go home and time to get trapped in the traffic. Took an hour to get out of the Bluewater complex and the remainder of the journey was in the rush hour as well. It was one of those journeys where you felt the closer you got to home the further it seemed away.
