Autumn in miniature
There was much cutting back going on in my garden today, and I didn't know if this beautiful rose hip with its attendant leaves would survive the cull, so here it is, immortalised.
I learned two things today about sweet peas. One is that a six-foot tall plant depends on a single root about the length and thickness of that on a smallish dandelion. The other is that if you clutch a great bundle of sweet pea plants to yourself - as you do, manhandling them from the hedge to which they were wired - they smell of peas.
Logical, really ...
