Drinking trough
Came across this in a wet Woolwich yesterday. A Metropolitan Association Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough in Beresford Squary outside the Royal Arsenal.
Upon further investigation I discovered that the Association still exists to provide drinking water and to ensure that fountains in London are maintained and used for the purpose of providing drinking water - although I suspect there is not much demand for watering cattle in the capital nowadays.
Another website revealed that someone is collecting and collating all the troughs in London and is seeking the whereabouts of missing or unknown troughs.
It's amazing what you come across on a wet day in Woolwich.
