The end of the Pier
Cromer Pier.
Still being repaired after the storms in December 2013 when the Box Office, part of the theatre and sections of the decking were destroyed.
This is nothing new as it has been damaged many times before.
We did have a walk to the end, on a dull, blowy and much colder day.
The little Pavilion Theatre at the end of the pier seats only 500 people, and is the last end of pier theatre that produces an in-house show every summer and Christmas season.
I do hope it keeps going for many years to come.
A true old fashioned English tradition.
We then went on to Sheringham , where we had coffee at Whelks Coppers tea shop.
This is where in 1954 MrC and his brother, went on holiday with their mum and dad.
It was then two holiday flats.
Used to be fisherman's cottages, until it was converted in 1933.
The name refers to the time when fishermen used to boil locally caught whelks in "coppers" to prepare for the London markets.
Sheringham is a charming old fashioned town, still much as it was in the 1950s.
Lunch was soup and cheese scones at the Norfolk Wild Life Trust cafe at Cley.
Looking out of the huge viewing windows over the marshes, and out to sea.
Plenty of wild fowl on the lagoons, marsh harriers and geese flying around too.
Finished off with a walk round the village.
Off to the Wiverton Bell , for Pie and a Pint night.
Weather not too good, but didn't spoil the day.
It has certainly come much colder!
By the way G&J ( MrC's brother and wife) found us fine with their Sat Nav.
Brought them down a narrow single track back road, which fortunately had nothing coming in the other direction!!
They decided not to go that way back in the dark!
