Remembrance Day

.....in Blackheath.

Both my grandfathers, who lived with us at varying times during my childhood, fought on the Western Front so it is very meaningful to me.
How I wish now I could talk to them about their experiences, but like many veterans they didn't discuss the war, and certainly not with a child.

We have a family history written by my great great grandmother in 1917 where she says at the end "Four of our grandsons are at the Front fighting for King and Country; it is my daily prayer that God preserve them, and bring them safely home."
It always gives me a shiver when I read this knowing one of them was my grandfather.
