Poppy & pride

Ferguson ran to meet me from school clutching this digestive adorned with fruit - A poppy biscuit, that they had made as an extended learning exercise for Remembrance Day.
I managed to snap a photo before he scoffed it down...

Also, tonight was parents' evening.
I find being in Ian's company ever more difficult & sometimes talking to him is an effort.
Ferguson's teacher sang his praises & it was lovely to hear her say such complimentary things about him.
His literacy, comprehension & use of English already exceed the end of year requirement & after just 7 weeks, she said she had really high hopes for him.
Annoyingly, Ian remarked that he wasn't at all surprised...what?! I wouldn't dream of saying that to a teacher! It seemed like such an arrogant thing to say..yes, it's one thing to think your child is wonderful-who doesn't, but it just seemed a bit much him declaring it. "Proud", would be a more appropriate word I think...
