Frozen

The lake is now frozen. I'm not sure that it was frozen yesterday and it certainly wasn't frozen on Wednesday. But the temperature is not set to rise above freezing in the foreseeable future, so it looks as if we won't be seeing water until spring. Winter truly has us in its icy grip. A couple of foolhardy sorts were already trying to walk on the ice.

Nice walk, lots of deer tracks, no deer. There was fine snow in the air but a faint sun was constantly trying to break through. A bald eagle soared overhead by the lake, but apart from the mad skaters, I saw not another soul. Almost dark when I returned at 5pm. The afternoons are feeling uncomfortably short these days.
