What an amazing day! Some local Blippers and a few members of Lochgilphead Camera Club met in glorious sunshine at Auchindrain Township, near Inveraray, one of the best examples still remaining and now a museum.
Before modern farms there were thousands of these townships in Scotland, small communities where people lived a fairly basic life, kept animals and grew crops. There were several more, I was told, between here and Inveraray, though little remains of them.
At Auchindrain there are 14 or 15 buildings to be seen, mostly old stone houses but a few slightly more modern buildings, some of them furnished in the style of the day. It's hard to believe, but the last residents left here only in 1963 or 4!
Between us we must have taken many hundreds of pictures, several of which will no doubt be Blipped this evening - I took 152. In trying to be a little different I chose this picture, in the background of which can be seen 'MacCallum's House'.
We came out to a magnificent sunset which was reflected nicely in weeflecky's car - here.
