More UK immigrants....

In 1955 this species had never been seen in Britain. Its first breeding was surrounded by secrecy.
Now it has even reached the Western Isles. Indeed we saw a flock of 36 of them the other day and who knows where they are moving on to colonise.
Collared Dove is the name and although not the best shot of its collar, you can just see why in this image.
Otherwise today it was a "local community" day. The Christmas Craft Fair at Balivanich was better than I feared it might have been, although that would not have been difficult. Grimsay seems to be becoming the local industrial hub with home-made soap and candles on offer. After that to the Grmisay Free Church which has just been purchased by the community to become their centre. Extensive tea and cakes at both events proved the high value given to bakery skills on the islands. Diet - what was that?!
