A new day
This is truly a strange time of year. I slept until 200 in the afternoon today. This was I believe the direct result of two nights with no sleep. It gets dark at 400 pm. What is up with that? Lately it has been way overcast no light to shoot. Unless I don't have my camera handy then whoa watch out sunshine galore!
Things I have learned in the past few days.
1) I am NOT a rough it kind of girl. No seriously. I have a friend who calls me princess. Not in a reverent way. There is no bowing involved. He tells me I need to toughen up. I am afraid to say that after two days with no power......he may (notice I said may) have something there.
2) when your fridge goes above 40 degrees....it is a blessing. You can get rid of all sorts of mystery food in there. It's a perfect excuse to not open those containers. I always felt guilty throwing away food. Not after this. Btw throw out the mayonnaise. It's always suspect. I have 12 quarts of strawberries and 9 of blueberries in there.. I would have been really ticked off if they had defrosted. They did not.
3) my cats never have liked me as much as when it was 29 degrees inside my house and as they are fickle creatures, it did not last long.
4) if you stay awake waiting for the generator to run out of gas it won't. However, fall asleep, it will pick that moment.
5) an electric blanket saved my dads life. I swear.
6) neighbors ahh yes neighbors. They are invaluable. Even dog log boy, I am going to make him a pie this weekend. He helped start the generator. I owe him.
7) show me a nasty drunk bitch, I will show you a sober bitch. My next door neighbors friend who is an awful woman sober, is an unbearable bitch when she is drunk. I called her a stupid "dirty name." BOY did she piss me off.
8) my temper is short when I am tired, dirty, cold and not in any mood for bs.
9) when a man shows up in a yellow fluorescent uniform and a hard hat with a long pole, your heart beats a little faster. I had to physically restrain myself from throwing myself at him to thank him.
10) I am glad I don't live in New Hampshire. My sister got her power back this afternoon.
11) Dunkin donuts coffee.......YAY And they were open Thanksgiving day!
12) I am blessed. I have more things than I need and even after a bump in the road of my everyday life, this was a great experience to remind me to be grateful for what I have.
13) hardware store guys are into the LED lights. I am not so much. They seem harsh.
14) during a power outage, hardware store guys look like the geniuses they are not.
15) a lot of grunting at this hardware store. ( this isn't a big box store but it is a chain)
16) it's time to think of decorations and re arranging the living room to accommodate a tree.
I am so thankful for this life.
So my grouchiness of the last few days is gone AND, tomorrow is a new day with breakfast at my favorite place and my sister coming to visit.
I can't wait.
So good night to the north and.......G'day to down under............
So add a 17, I copied this before I posted thank God, it didn't take it at first.
