Finally, Some Sunshine

We had a lovely walk tthrough Sutton Park today, complete with periods of sunshine, which was most welcome after the recent grey days. I have been visiting the park for more than 50 years and in that time have seen many changes. In the 1970s cars freely used it as rat runs from Streetly to Sutton Coldfield and there were many interconnecting roads that joined the various gates that entered the park. This was stopped and the roads have now become havens for walkers, joggers and cyclists.

The park is also undertaking something af a transformation, with a heathland project for the northern part of the area. Exmoor ponies have been introduced and there is substantial felling of trees taking place. It doesn't necessarily meet with some of the locals approval; signs warning of heavy machinery tree felling have been annotated with objections. Fortunately some areas have been left alone and this small wood was a joy with its carpet of golden leaves.
