Brady & Seamus

This week I am watching my music instructor’s pets. He has two Brittany Spaniels named Seamus and Braydon. Seamus is the dark colored dog. He is a purebred and is slightly pampered. Seamus is the alpha dog of the household and always guards the door, furiously barking at all who enter. When he sees me however, Seamus stops barking and rolls on his belly. In dog language, this is a symbol of submission. In Seamus’s world, it also signifies “pet me!” The other light colored dog is Braydon. Braydon is a rescue dog. When Seamus was 3 years old, my instructor found Braydon on the side of the road. He was emaciated and covered in ticks. He and his wife took Braydon in and nursed him back to health. At first, Seamus didn’t take too kindly to the new family member and often snapped at Braydon when he was receiving too much attention. After about a year, Seamus and Braydon reached some sort of alliance and became friends. I love both Seamus and Braydon. They always greet me with barking and waging tails when I come for my music lessons. Braydon’s timid, but loving personality makes him my personal favorite. However, both dogs are a joy to be around. Taking care of them this week will be fun.
