My Safe Haven
Everyone has a place they think of as their “safe haven.” For me, this place is my music room. I’m in this room seven days a week working on various things. In my music room, I rehearse my piano lessons, practice advanced saxophone and vocal repertoire, write songs with my guitar, practice for upcoming performances, and compose grand staff piano with three part vocal harmony arrangements. This wonderful, open space room also houses my Xbox, and fan girl wall (a wall covered in One Direction posters). Before becoming my music room, this room was a recreational space where my uncle played pool with his friends, and I played with Barbie dolls. This room also makes an ideal make-shift, demo recording studio. The lack of windows means that all sound will be going into the microphone and not leaving or reverberating off of glass. The carpet floor also ensures no sound will reverberate. My music room is fully equipped with 3 guitars, 3 different sized amplifiers, a grand piano, a 2000 setting keyboard, 4 microphones, 4 extension cords, 6 outlets, over 100 different music books, 3 types of recording/composition software, Wi-Fi, and advanced CD player, various auxiliary percussion instruments, and 10 different hook-up cables. If I had dollar for every hour I spent in my music room, I would truly be a billionaire. I am very fortunate to have such a wonderful music room.
